Age 31 is less then 24hours away
Evening.
The new age in Orkfia Classic is soon about to start, less then 24hours before the game starts (first update is 01:00ST tomorrow night)
The low summer activity is more noticeable then ever, but like its been mentioned before, there will be a big re-relaunch in august so stick around, first goal is to get more active players then Alliances at War, and after that to keep growing!

Battling time for the #1 position
It was Tuesday, June 17th 17:24 server time when KARMA POLICE (#27) was very comfortable in her no.1 position. With 10,000 acres more than the no.2 alliance Orkfias Twelve (#12), everyone in the alliance IRC channel was having genuine fun. It was then that Darkwing realized that both Jamzi and Vortex had reached the age of 99. This was a cause for both celebration and mourning, as reaching the age of 100 is a great achievement, but together their deaths would result in a loss of roughly 13,000 acres.
With no intention of parting the no.1 position KP had worked so hard for solutions were discussed. With Vortex’ immortal words “Declare war? When me and Jamzi are about to die? Sounds good!” everyone was alerted and the war preparations began. With no further assurances than educated guesses on acre loss due to death by ageing it was decided to declare war upon OT as soon as possible. The decided time was 03:55, and as most of the alliance is near or in the server time zone this was cause for some amusement. Jokes on inconvenient KTs were followed by grunts of goodbye as most KT members set multiple alarms and sought out their beds, anxious for the third war in the history of the alliance.
By Wednesday, June 18th 3:45 server time KT had come and slowly everyone showed their faces in the alliance IRC channel. Assisted by the necessary quantities of caffeine intel was gathered and calculations were made. Fear gripped hearts of many a KP member as Jamzis ruler had reached the age of 100 and her general had left. She could die any tick, and with that notion war was declared at 3:56 server time. In two hours time [OT] Boze buurman, [OT] Im Back and [OT] Masquerade fell to a combination of Arsons, Dragon Mages, Dragon Apprentices and Fireballs. However, at 6:00 karma came for Jamzis ruler, who died at an age of 100. Joy ensued, for all fears had been quelled: dying of age did not count as lost acres in war!
The war continued, and noticing war mode conversion on several of their tribes, it was decided to kill those we could. OT’s elder, Spiral Architect astounded all by being continuously on-line from the start of the war until the very end. It did not matter, however. At 8:02 server time [OT] BuggyMonkey and [OT]Revenge had fallen to the same deadly cocktail as their late alliance members and the war was won. Orkfias Twelve had been brought down enough to prevent us losing our no.1 ranking to them.
By now VorteX had reached the age of 100 and his general had left as well. With the prospect of a heritage for 2,000 acres the no.1 ranking had been secured. All hell broke loose though, when the dying ritual was investigated more closely. Apparently, when dying of age, one appears as having 400 acres before the heritage bonus kicks in. United Races (#15) held the no.2 ranking now, and this difference would make them first for a little while. Still unwilling to give up the no.1 spot it was decided that one of their tribes had to go. With Pez being large, but not very well defended a KT was set for 10:55 server time so everyone had time to recharge. Not everyone could be on-line then though, so in the hours leading to the KT several already opped.
The first attempt on Pez’ life failed due to his on-line activity, and time was limited because VorteX had calculated that he had until noon to live. The second attempt, however, was successful and exactly at the noon tick Pez’ karma was delivered.
The moral of this report is, of course: death comes swiftly and unannounced. As it turned out, VorteX didn’t die until 19:00 ST and time would have allowed a properly organized KT. Nevertheless, it was a successful, albeit long, long day.

Firefox 3 is finaly released and the blog had another “facelift”

Im really excited about the release of Firefox 3.
This is the culmination of several years hard work and so far its awsome, it might not be the fastest browser out there but its in my eyes the best browser today. If you havent downloaded it yeat then do it here.
There is also a attempt to become the most downloaded software within 24hours of official release date, so far 2,624,414 ppl have downloaded the new browser, the world record attempt ends in:

Only downside to this release is that one thing that seems still unfixed from the rc3 version was an error on showing the portal blog, and we couldnt possible have that now could we:P
So said and done I remade a team to fit the forum default style. As you can see there is still some tweaking to do, but Im done for tonight and Im now going to bed.
Last check on the firefox page shows 2,647,359 total downloads currently and when I started writing it was still below 2,600,000

Orkfia Classic – Age 31
Hello there, as stated on the classic announcement forum ingame the portal will start taking more space, it has already been acting as a doubleposting place for classic stuff but starting with Age 31 information stuff will be posted here only.
So what brings age 31? Well since its summer and all we are just having a few race changes and hopefully some minor bug fixes / other updates.
Age 31 starts 00:00 between the 19th and the 20th (first update as always 01:00). Age will run for 4 weeks (no matter what the countdown timer shows since it keep manages to show the wrong time).

Infinity – War report
Diary of last week’s wars between #27 vs #32

As #32 kept growing confidently we realized that something had to be done to stop them. They had already killed 3 of us a week before, and once nearly all our tribes were capable of using DA I started planning. We had 4 fairly nice spirits (Bolle, Jamzi, Joe, MingD,), 1 big eagle (me) and miscellaneous races including a 700 acre templar (Darkwing). We aimed to allow 5 days so that our thieves (the 4 big spirits and the eagle) would have enough credits to train thieves. 3 days passed and tragedy struck as the server went down. We hoped it would be up by evening, but it was not up by then. We thought of letting it off, until finally the server came back up, and I decided to risk it all. The money still kept coming in when the server was down, albeit without spells. However, I calculated that we had enough thieves to take on #32. The greatest effort was from Darkwing, who grew 300 acres at such a small size without the necessary defence. He did it just on time J
I had already told the others that the KT was to happen at around 1:55. However, the server only came back at 16:00, and so we did not have enough time to attack at that tick. So I postponed the KT to 3:55 ST, amid some grumbles (and understandable too) from some members. I took a look at #32 and decided the first target was to be Kotarak. The thieves trained, the mages prepared themselves, and most of us took short naps to be fresh for the KT (An incident worth mentioning: At conversion tick 12 tribes were online. I went frantic and raved for 20 mins that #32 would know what we were up to. The others thought I was having a heart attack). I nearly forgot to mention that we were NOT in war range – we would only be in range if we killed a fairly big tribe.
The alarm went off in 12 different homes, and most probably 12 different hands fumbled to quiet the alarms. @ 03:45, I saw with great satisfaction that all of our tribes were online. I quickly shook myself to try to get to my senses, and started planning the times of opping, spell casting, etc, while our Atanasfaloth and Joe+Bolle calced the homes needed (I’m hopeless at it). I decided that while the thieves should target Kot; I also decided that our mages should go for lepel 1 tick after since I reckoned that they were not full yet. KT came and the thieves went all out for Kot. The vision showed he still had 60k citz. I was quickly starting to doubt my decisions; it was not the first time my war plan failed miserably. However, I quickly realized that we had enormous firepower since we were in ultra-full war mode. 04:59 came and the thieves got enough homes to get down Kot; Lepel was dead as well. 05:00 tick came, and I instructed the others to get Kot down, and to leave lepel untouched at 200 citz. Kot was dead (Tank) and the war was declared… but lepel was nowhere near dead. We were very happy about the result with Kota, but a lot had still to be done to win the war.
In that tick I changed the target; Mr. Sanzo was to be our first kill in that war. Lepel was after all an efficient 7k acre spirit, and we needed full-opping on him to get him. Mr. Sanzo was a much easier target: without any effort he was killed the tick after (again, our Tank killed him), and the war bonus kicked in giving us back our thieves and half our mps. Again, I asked our Calcing Team to recalc the homes needed to get lepel, showing that about 300 homes more were needed. We were pretty much all full, so I decided that a double kill would be possible. Our thieves went for Sile (vaspaoul) this time, while our mages went for lepel again. The plan succeeded magnificiently, as both Sile and Lepel died (Jamzi and Atan) the tick after amidst the joy of our alli. Tiia came online at that time, along with Sanzo, and since Tiia was a co-elder, she decided to accept defeat and our alliance won the 1st war after only 2 hours.

Once again our favorite game is down.
Martel has been notified, lets hope the downtime isnt as long as last time

Orkfia is again down, just now and earlier this morning orkfia had/have some downtime, this is quite worrying to see such increase in downtime, hopefully it will be resolved shortly

Both Games finaly up
the subdomain for alliances at war is down and has been since a server restart at 12:00 ST, classic is not affected, Im hoping that this will be solved quickly.

The hosting company did earlier today an upgrade on the apache on their servers which led to the initial downtime, classic got back up due to its own domain (orkfiaclassic.com), orkfia.phpsupport.se is still down tho, Martel thinks it will hopefully be up and running again before this evening.

Like most of you active classic players Orkfia Classic is now also down, Alliances at War is still down aswell.
So far the hosting company has not been able to help us out (if they tried or not is hard to know..a qualified guess earlier was that what caused classic to go down was an attempt from the hosting company to solve the problem)
We are hoping for the both versions to come online as soon as possible but we simple do not know when this will happen. We appriciate that you people are enduring this and hopefully not to much dmg was done to everyones tribes and such.

Orkfia Classic is now back up again, but still no sign of life in Alliances at War.
We are still waiting for the hosting company to sort this out.
