Orkfia Classic Age 29 Changes.

Hello here is the age changes for Orkfia Classic for the comming age.

(reservation for possible changes to this, but if so it will be within the comming 24hours)

Game Changes:

  • New War System

a. New win formula based on a FIXED AMOUNT OF LAND

- 32% of own alliance’s land (reversed old winning formula)

- Land counted from Attacks: Barren, Standard, Raid

- Land counted from Ops: Ambush

- Land counted from other: Kills (full size of killed tribe)

b. Increased declaration range

- 80-150% of your own size based on both Land and Number of Tribes

c. New interface (War Room page)

d. Rule removed: You now can declare on the last war target (after a cool-down period)

e. And lots of lots of extra functions, new text, war statistics, “undo” truce, etc.

(Unless mentioned above, old rules of war still apply. Consult the player guide for details.)

  • four weeks agelength instead of the current six weeks.
  • Raids now do 25% less damage in citz and military outside war.
  • Double fame gain from magic.

News, pre changes in Orkfia Classic and new information on orkfia-portal

Hello there.

The development team is busy busy setting up the changes for next age, what I can bring you is a glimpse of what is awaiting for you all. Im giving you here the top three biggest changes (at this point and not counting with race changes) for classic next age.

  1. 4 week age instead of the normal 6 week.
  2. A new warsystem like the one that just hit Alliances at War which brings larger ranges etc.
  3. Raid nerfed to void all out attacker alliances raidkilling everything early age.

This will indeed be an interesting chain of events and hopefully this will spice up the game enough without destroying the “orkfia” we know of. Instead of having a five week labpump followed by maximum a week of war this might bring more action in overall.

Well there has been quite a gap inbetween the last Orkfian Times and this article, although by OT standards it’s hardly any time at all.. In those few months some things have gone back to the ways of old and some things are entirely new.

Looking at the in-game forums for Classic, the world-famous (it literally is!!) “Ye Olde Lion’s Den” has re-opened for business and is currently settling back in to the role it had years ago as one of the all-time most popular threads in Orkfia’s seven year history. The Infinity and Classic forums show us that not only are new people constantly joining Orkfia, the “old” players are like boomerangs. One thing is sure about Orkfia, once you have been hooked you will always return no matter how long you leave for.

Classic is slowly gathering pace, although it currently seems to be dominated by pink power in the form of our very own barbie girls GNS. Whilst GNS’s Barbies are doing an admirable job of keeping Classic in order, the game is crying out for a decent alliance to rival them. Maybe what we need is an alliance of Microwaves to melt all that plastic.

In Infinity time rolls on and things are constantly being improved and tweaked to improve the gameplay. Under Martel’s leadership it has evolved into a very playable game but again many of the players suffer from a lack of competition.

Both game versions show a lot of promise and have a dedicated, cult following and with the stability we have now things can only keep getting better.

In a brand new development Admin Acwder has been constructing the new “Orkfia Portal” which I guess you must know about since you are looking at it right now… Although the Portal is still in development,  it is hoped that this will come to replace the current set up of Orkfia so you can find all the Orkfia related sites – Classic, Infinity, The Forums, The OT and the Orkfian Faces all on this one site.

 

The domain has been paid for, content is already in place and the forum is up and running.  You are free to make a forum account and start posting right now (go for it!!), once the forum is more populated there will be design competitions along with silly contests and the usual Orkfian rantings. Also as always The OT is very interested to hear from guest writers and the faces page needs more people. Email your submissions for the OT and the Faces page to orkfia@sky.com and they will be uploaded. With the new layout of the OT it is possible to make comments on the articles featured so all fan/hate mail is welcome.
It is also planned that Martel and Acwder will take it in turns writing a weekly “blogg” article to keep everyone updated with the latest staff news.

With all the game improvements underway and a hot new look for Orkfia we just need to bring in the people who will learn to love Orkfia as much as we do… Then we can kill them and the real fun can start :D

This article is taken from issue #35 from the Orkfian Times.

As reported in last issue (issue 34), Head of Orkfia Martel announced he will now host two versions of Orkfia on his server much to the joy of many players.

Rather than having to choose which version you play, every person is able to have one tribe on each server.

Originally when ORKFiA started back in 2001 the plan was for it to have each age lasting around 6 real time weeks, with a full reset inbetween each age so players could start afresh.

This meant there was no heritage and every single tribe every age, regardless of how badly or well they had done in the past had an equal start at 250 acres.
The market and science of each alliance was set back to zero and the protection period was 48 real time hours. This meant that as everyone came OOP (Out Of Protection) at the same moment you could get away with a much lower DPA (Defence Per Acre) than the 450+ DPA you tend to think is normal in Infinity. This was because you knew other people could only have so much offence available to attack with after 48 hours and you knew they could not have much science bonus yet.


A big part of the game was indeed the protection period as if you could get it right you could grow from 250 to 750 or even 1000+ acres before protection was up, then if you could combine this with enough defence to deter other players from attacking you at OOP time and a little bit of offence you could come OOP with all guns blazing and attack those poor unfortunates who did not train enough defence.

If you perfected this you would be the envy of the rest of Orkfia, certainly gaining the respect of your alliance mates and being ahead now could put you ahead for the whole age.

But for those who got their protection period wrong, it meant your whole age would be ruined as it was an almost impossible task to catch up (although it has been done).

Some people would try to be a bigshot and explore to 1k+ acres but then discover they didn’t have enough defence come OOP and become a landfarm to enemies whilst their alliance either point and laugh at them or boot them out… You could be so paranoid about this that you explore to only 500 acres and then come OOP with so much defence you cripple your growth and lag behind for the rest of the age.

The worst scenario is when you worked out a perfect strategy after spending hours poring over the guides and using the Species strat tester (linked in the player guide under “useful tools”)… you would feel so pleased that you were going to come OOP and be King of Orkfia for certain. It might involve arranging your sleep pattern at four hour intervals through the night, and calling in sick to work/school but it was worth it. Then after 41 hours of hardly any sleep and working through the strat you discover a fatal flaw – that you haven’t trained soldiers and you will come OOP with no defence. This scenario caused many an Orkfian to break down and cry.

Alliances were made or broken in those crucial first 48 hours and it was a pressure to get it right as the stakes were high – 6 weeks of fun and taunting others with your beautiful tribe or 6 weeks of misery waiting for the next age to begin so you can try again.

It was a harsh cycle, but one Orkfians were used to and Orkfia existed that way until early Autumn 2006 when the Infinity concept came in.

Infinity is the current game which has been running for the past year. Infinity still has ages but there is no gap in play so you can fit your schedule around yourself. If you turn up in the middle of an age it makes no difference so you can happily create a tribe and play straight away. If you mess up, you can recreate in peace without the pressure of everyone else being ahead of you.
However it is no easy ride as after your 8 hour protection period again you will often find you need to raise your defence per acre pretty rapidly if you are to survive, due to the ongoing accrual of science by some alliances some tribes can have huge bonuses in offence – so you are safe from no one.
