I hope you all have a great christmas.
There havent been much outgoing activity here on the portal lately nor in Classic, the staffers are taking a brief vacation so to speak now with christmas and everything, I myself are going away skiing over new years eve for a week (gonna make sure to have some photos to upload once I get back), gonna be back before the age ends.
To all you AatW players, dont forget to vote in the first AatWards, “Voting closes 23:59:59 December 27th ST”, you vote by replying on the pm that got sent with all the nominees.
Dont hesitate to post a christmas picture greeting on the portal forum, the more the merrier. Classic and the Portal staff will be back in übermode at the start of 2009, age 36 will mostly contain balancing stuff and adding more to for exampel the intel page. But rest asure that there is loads of great things going on.

AatW Age 18 Changes
Hey again just made a post about aatw login being disabled, it just got back up again, and the changes for age 18 has been posted. Here they are:
- Game Changes Age 18 -
New Features
- There is a completely new mystics interface
Game Changes
- Spells
- 2 New alliance spells: Seal of Deflection and Fountain of Resu
- Magical Void will remove spells in a random order
- War bonus for thievery & mana points = 2 updates, but no longer more than max capacity
- New tribes
- Spell effect hours to 18 instead of 3
- Market sell limit to 8 (length of OOP) from 24
- Citizens
- Reduce minimum raid losses to 2x acreage (from 3x) for all races
- Reduce Fireball damage to 75% of current
- Churches and Guard Houses efficiency are decreased to 3% defence per 1% buildings, from 3,5%. A max 80% rule remains.
- Old research will decay much, much faster

Straight from the Development forum comes a couple of small tweaks to races. These will be added once Age 17 has ended, without needing to remove any of them first.

- Templar:
- * 1.5 mystic per acre gives 1 mage level, this does not stack with academies –> 1 mystic per acre.
- High Elves:
- * 1% churches provide 4% protection instead of 3.5% –> 3.5% instead of 3%
- Sage (6/0) – 700 cr –> 650cr
- Longbowman (0/6) – 820 cr –> 750cr
- Priestess (3/3) – 350cr –> (3/4) – 350 cr
- Wood Elves:
- Tree Ent (0/9) – 1400cr –> (0/10) 1400 cr
- Grassrunner (0/0) – 300cr –> 280 cr
- Mori Hai:

Alliances at War – Slow/Down
Orkfia – Alliances at War is currently experiences heavy lagg mixed with downtime.
Martel is aware of the problem and commented that its the swedish hosting company’s fault, running backups during weekend nights.

Orkfia – Downtime
Hey there.
[Updated @ ~18:10ST August 10th]
To summerize whats happend this weekend.
The server where both Orkfian versions is hosted on has been down now for close to 48hours, and previous to that the game was down during the night before this downtime.
Martel has been notified and as far as we know we are waiting for the hosting company to sort the problem out first thing in the morning.
I hope you all managed okey during this weekend, meanwhile Orkfia is down feel free to drop by the Portal Forum or just hang around on #orkfia at IRC.
[Update 18:35 Aug. 11th]
Like most of you already probably are aware of the server came back online this morning.
We hope that not to many of you had any harm done to your tribes other then ending up in the resource list;)
For me myself it was only a matter of my Classic tribe running out of food:)
Thanks to everyone that dropped by here during the downtime and that took more time then usualy on IRC, I hope you’ll stay around more even now when the game is up and running again

Orkfia AatW Age 16 – Age Changes
~ Age 16 Game changes ~
To further promote community and gameplay “Alliance Merging” is being introduced. This new feature encourages the formation of full alliances while eliminating any penalty of changing established positions of research and resource achievements.
All research, including purchased science, and market stores will be combined in the newly formed alliance. Now it’s easier than ever to position your team as a top rank contender! Alliance elders will find the “request alliance merge” link under Elder Options on the options page.
New Features:
- New option for elders to request a merge between two alliances
- Removed ML requirements from all spells
- New formula for mana cost of advanced spells
(The current formula is kept for self spells, inner sight, poison, cyclops, anthrax, Magical Void fireball, Unresearch, Fountain of Resurrection and the new formula will apply for the rest of the spells.)
Bugs fixed:
- Guide for Poison Water now show “0.8% citizens” instead of 9%.
- Showing leader name instead of tribe name and alliance # when defecting to the graveyard
Other changes:
- Removed spells: DragonApprentice, Juranimosity, Unresearch, Engineered Virus, Stunted Growth
Age 16 will start in 1396 OE and last roughly the normal life span of a ruler (83 orkfian years).

More information on the Mystics changes:
Standard cost (current spells cost) should be around 3,5k acres. At 6k acres should give ~25% extra firepower. At 1,75k acres should give 50% lower firepower.
Also notice that your mage level still depends on size in acres. (2,5k acres = max mage level of 25.)
